Counselor in Training (CIT) Program at Little Champ Camp
Being a Counselor in Training (CIT) at Little Champ Camp is a unique opportunity to participate in meaningful, rewarding work. Through this program, you will learn how to care for children while helping them grow into independent, responsible, and confident individuals. Join us for an unforgettable and impactful summer experience!
About the CIT Program
At Little Champ Camp, we believe summer camp plays a vital role in helping youth develop leadership skills that will benefit them both at camp and beyond. Our CIT program is designed to help participants build strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills while stepping into a leadership role within a supportive and inclusive environment.
There is no fee to participate in the CIT program. While the position is unpaid, it qualifies for Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) volunteer hours, making it an excellent opportunity for students to complete their high school community service requirements.
This program is open to students 13–16 years old.
Participants must commit to at least one full week, with the option to attend multiple weeks, a full month, or the entire summer based on interest and availability.
Program Hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
CITs receive two 30-minute breaks daily.
Program Requirements
To ensure a safe, structured, and high-quality experience for both campers and volunteers, CITs must:
-
Be confident swimmers and actively participate in the pool with campers every day
-
Provide their own valid City of Mississauga swimming pass
-
Commit to the full weekly schedule (no partial-week placements)
-
Demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and enthusiasm for working with children

-
Training: All CITs must attend a mandatory orientation and training session prior to beginning their placement.
-
Parental Consent: Participants under 18 must submit a signed Parent/Guardian Consent Form before participating.

Screening: While police record checks are not legally required for volunteers under 18, CITs aged 16 may be asked to complete an Offense Declaration. A character reference may also be requested.
-
Hours Tracking: An official record of volunteer hours will be provided upon request.
